Beker - .925 zilver - 1750 Londen doopmok

An 18th-century British George II antique sterling silver Tankard (oversized mug). The high-relief design is exquisitely detailed and beautiful, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship. Gilded inside and out, a rare collector's item! The cheetah represents London. The lion represents British 925 sterling silver. The cursive letter “P” represents the year: 1750. It was a gift and bears an English signature, suggesting that the family that owned the Tankard was extremely wealthy and powerful. The Gift of MR. JOHN CASTENDIECK TO JOHN WOODS for his Civility and also kind treatment to Horses entrusted to his care. Possibly later engraved and decorated. Height: 12.3 cm. Mouth diameter: 8.1 cm (13 cm including handle). Base diameter: 9.4 cm. Weight: 360 grams. Capacity: 530 ml (for reference, a can of cola is 330 ml). This exquisite and luxurious full-work high-relief design makes now an ideal time to buy for investment or collection. The rarity and preciousness of 18th-century British silverware mean its value is expected to rise significantly year after year. Silverware reached its artistic peak during the reign of George II, heavily influenced by the Rococo style and frequently decorated with scallop shells, scrolls, flowers, and leaves. As works from the mature period of British silverware art, these pieces often appear at high-end auction houses and are considered to have significant historical and collectible value.
