Victor Vasarely (1906–1997)
“Ondulatoires”, 1973
Complete portfolio with 10 prints
Published by Edition du Griffon, Switzerland

A complete original portfolio of ten prints from Ondulatoires, created by Victor Vasarely, one of the most influential pioneers of geometric abstraction and the undisputed father of Op Art. Published in 1973 by Edition du Griffon (Switzerland), this rare portfolio presents a remarkable selection of Vasarely’s iconic optical compositions, constructed through precise linear structures, rhythmic repetition, and dynamic visual distortions that create powerful illusions of movement, depth, and spatial vibration.

Each print exemplifies Vasarely’s groundbreaking exploration of what he described as kinetic plastic art—an artistic language designed to engage the viewer’s perception through optical phenomena. Created during the mature period of his career, these works also reflect the artist’s theoretical concept of “Planetary Folklore”, a universal visual alphabet he developed from the 1960s onward.

Born in Hungary in 1906 and active in Paris from 1930, Vasarely became one of the defining figures of postwar European abstraction. His influence extended far beyond fine art, shaping architecture, graphic design, fashion, and visual culture worldwide.
