André Goezu - Spagair (edition 8/15 ) A rare, enigmatic etching by the renowned Belgian master André Goezu (Antwerp, b. 1939), who has lived and worked in Paris since 1968. This particular piece showcases Goezu’s early, more intellectual, and existential period, shifting away from his later commercially widely distributed color works toward a deeply poetic and mysterious artistic language. The composition features human figures and scenes that beautifully fade and dissolve into the background, capturing a fleeting state of transformation, dream, and memory. While appearing monochrome at first glance, a closer inspection reveals Goezu’s absolute mastery of the medium. A delicate, subtle green-grey tint has been applied to parts of the background. This suggests the use of the refined à la poupée technique, where the artist manually inked sections of the plate before pulling it through the press.
