PIECE FOR COLLECTORS / EXCLUSIVE PARKER 65 DELUXE IN TEAL BLUE FINISH (c. 1970s): Exceptional, sumptuous and extraordinarily sought-after vintage Parker fountain pen of high collection, belonging to its legendary and extremely scarce technical production series from Parker 65 in its coveted "Deluxe Teal Blue GT" variant, entirely manufactured in the company's official workshops in Newhaven (England / Made in England) throughout the 1970s. Originally designed exclusively for the European high-end market as the direct evolution of the iconic Parker 51, the 65 series is regarded as one of the pens with the best mechanical performance of the second half of the 20th century. This specimen stands out for its streamlined design of 13.5 cm long when closed and 1.1 cm in diameter, made in noble high-density acrylic resin in the emblematic petrol blue (Teal Blue), combined with an arrow clip and a sumptuous triple lower band gold-plated in high-jewelry yellow gold.
The great identifying feature and expert value of this lot lies in the resin of the barrel itself, which exhibits factory hand-engraved engraving with absolute clarity and depth of the catalogue identification number of the series: "65", which safeguards its total authenticity before international appraisers. In the front nib area, it houses its most iconic and exclusive feature: the wraps-around, semi-hooded nib with a triangular profile forged in solid 14-karat gold (585), factory-stamped with the marks of purity and provenance from the Newhaven plant: "PARKER - 14K - ENGLAND - 585". The feeding system operates with standard cartridges or its original aerometric converter included. A high-grade fountain pen, in excellent condition.
Condition Status: Collection Quality / Excellent Vintage Condition
The fountain pen is presented in superb preservation, ideal for Parker collectors with the highest standards:
Teal Blue Resin Body and Engraving "65": The acrylic material preserves a magnificent uniform color with radiant shine, completely free of the usual cap lip cracks, deep bite marks or heat-induced deformations. The numeric stamp "65" on the resin remains clean and perfectly legible. The Parker arrow clip and the triple gold band on the cap maintain their firm fit, showing a full, bright gold finish without marginal aesthetic wear (brassing).
14K Gold (585) Wrap-Around Nib: Impeccable. The gold hawks of this unique semi-carene nib appear perfectly straight, flat, symmetrical and millimeter-aligned over its feed, free of ink corrosive stains or cracks on the nib section, preserving its factory iridium point to offer a medium (M) line with memorably smoothness and technical flexibility on paper.
Machinery: Fully operational, clean and inspected for immediate use with inks or display in a vitrine.
Curious Fact for the Collector
For international Catawiki appraisers, Parker 65 Deluxe Teal Blue fountain pens that preserve the numeric model engraving clean in the resin and the triple band on the cap are top-category lots due to their scarcity compared to the standard black versions. The British Newhaven factory conceived the Parker 65 as a bridge of high engineering: they wanted the cleanliness and watertightness of hooded nibs but offering the writer the smoothness and subtle flex of a traditional open gold nib, which gave rise to this mystical 585-engraved wrap-around nib. Teal Blue is one of the brand’s most emblematic and iconic colors, highly sought after by collectors due to its excellent aging aesthetics. As this is a unit that preserves the cap bands and the nib in perfect working order, it represents an exceptional collectible investment opportunity.
I wish you the best of luck in your bids and a excellent auction to all Catawiki participants!
