Small octavo, pp xx, 344, very slightly age-toned, otherwise extremely clean internally, a few text illustrations, a coloured folding map frontispiece, two folding map plates (each with just a slight tear at the inner fold).
Bound in a full calf prize binding by Bickers & Sons Leicester, for Bristol Grammar School, lined in gilt on both covers, an ornate gilt spine (slightly dull), marbled end-papers and marbled page edges. Very slight signs of use, but really a very pleasing copy.
Freeman 277. [Bonney added footnotes, as well as a large appendix, bringing the matter up to date.]
