There are 110 banknotes from immediately after World War II. They date back over 50 years. These are preserved in very fine condition, and they are so beautiful. ◆1 yen 壱園 / Sontoku Ninomiya 二宮尊徳 Size of a bundle: 6.8×12.4×1.7 cm Number of banknotes: 100 Year: 1946-1958 These are banknotes that circulated in Japan in the past; they were issued in 1946 and remained the legal tender of the country until 1958, when they ceased to be issued. The portrait was chosen to depict “Sontoku Ninomiya,” He is famous for reading and studying books while walking with firewood on his back.His statue was erected in most schools at the time. ◆10 yen 拾園 / Ticket A Parliament House A券 国会議事堂 Size: 7.6×14 cm Number of banknotes: 5 Year: 1946-1955 This design was approved by the American “GHQ” that ruled Japan. We have the impression that it looks somewhat like an American banknote. ◆50 sen 五拾銭 / Itagaki Taisuke 板垣退助 Size: 6×10.8 cm Number of banknotes: 5 The “Japanese Government Banknote Itagaki Taisuke 50 sen” issued in 1948 (March 10, 1948) and discontinued in 1953 (December 31, 1953). The portrait is of the Japanese samurai and politician “Itagaki Taisuke 板垣退助,” and on the back is a photograph of the National Diet Building.These small-denomination banknotes were used in Japan after World War II.
