Oude Egypte, late periode Geglazuurde faience Pendant (Zonder Minimumprijs)

An Ancient Egyptian amulet pendant, made of a blue glazed faience, featuring an elongated body with a pointed base. The body tapers in at the top, before flaring out to meet the head of the amulet. The body is decorated with parallel vertical incisions making the pendant resemble a flower with closed petals or a fruit. A suspension loop features at the top. Signs of wear as consistent with age, such as pitting, earthly encrustations and minor pitting. The Egyptians wore amulets alongside other pieces of jewellery. They were decorative, but also served a practical purpose, being considered to bestow power and protection upon the wearer. Many of the amulets have been found inside the wrappings of mummies, as they were used to prepare the deceased for the afterlife. Fist amulets were a particular feature of the 1st Intermediate Period, however examples have been found from New Kingdom and Late Period burials. The amulet was meant to bestow the power of dexterity and movement upon the wearer. Measurements: (circa) H 2.4cm x W 0.9cm Provenance: Ex. early 20th century UK collection N.B. Delivery may be longer due to the busier period and we do not guarantee delivery before Christmas. Items paid for after the 19th December will be shipped after the New Year (week commencing on the 5th January 2026). **There will be an additional fee incurred for returned shipments due to buyer’s non-response to customs enquiries and/or unsuccessful delivery attempts.**
