Oud-Romeins Terra Sigillata Bord met concentrische cirkelversiering - 25.5 cm
Roman plate with concentric circle decoration (1st–4th centuries AD). Terra sigillata. Diameter 25.5 cm.
An Ancient Roman wheel-thrown redware pottery plate with circular form. The vessel features broad walls and a shallow basin. The piece has simple lines, and the center of the basin is decorated with concentric circles.
The term terra sigillata refers chiefly to a specific type of plain and decorated tableware made in Italy and in Gaul (France and the Rhineland) during the Roman Empire. These vessels have a characteristic colour range from pale orange to bright red glossy surface; they were produced in standard shapes and sizes and were manufactured on an industrial scale and widely exported.
