Longquan Räuchergefäß - Porzellan - China - Yuan-Ming-Dynastie

A Longquan Celadon Tripod Censer in the Form of a Bamboo Trunk China, Yuan–Ming dynasty A finely potted Longquan celadon-glazed censer, modelled as a naturalistic bamboo trunk, standing on three small feet shaped as stylised ruyi heads. The softly rounded cylindrical body is covered in a lustrous celadon glaze of even tone, pooling subtly in the recesses to accentuate the carved segments of the bamboo. The form combines rustic naturalism with refined symbolism, as bamboo represents integrity, resilience, and scholarly virtue in Chinese culture, while the ruyi-shaped feet convey auspicious meanings of “as you wish” and good fortune. The censer is fitted with a reticulated copper cover, adding both functional and aesthetic refinement, allowing the fragrant smoke to disperse elegantly during use. Provenance: Acquired from a private Japanese collection. Reference: A related Longquan celadon censer was sold at Christie’s ($4.000), lot 127867. https://onlineonly.christies.com/s/asia/small-longquan-celadon-censer-6/127867 Compare also a related example dated to the Song dynasty in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago (inv. no. 195401). https://www.artic.edu/artworks/195401/cylindrical-tripod-censer-incense-burner-with-cloud-scroll-feet Dimension: H9 x W9,5 cm Condition: The censer has three spots repaired with Kintsugi goldlacquer, some crackle in the glaze and a hairline crack in the wall. Please examine the images carefully. Small imperfections and kiln-related flaws are not always described in detail. The written condition report is indicative only; the photographs provide the definitive and binding description of the item’s condition. Shipping: The lot will be securely packaged and shipped with insurance, without the dollhouse vase and the stand.
