Felix Lafortune (1933-2016) - Hawai

Oil painting on hardboard by the renowned Haitian naive art painter Lafortune Felix. He was born in 1933 in Pond Sonde, Haiti. He lived in St. Marc, where he was a farmer and Voodoo priest. The wall paintings in his temple attracted the attention of Pierre Monosiet, the late curator of the Haitian Art Museum at College Saint Pierre. The artist began painting on hardboard in 1972. Felix's inspiration came from his knowledge of the supernatural. Felix died in December 2016. The painting is signed and dated in the lower left corner with location (Lafortune Felix, St. Marc, 91). The size with frame is 84 cm x 60 cm, without frame 82 cm x 58 cm. The painting is in good condition.
