Michał Lenartowicz, also known as Lenar, presents Pollock Inspirations - XXL, a 2025 acrylic painting (original edition) on canvas, measuring 110 by 172 cm (100 by 162 cm stretcher size) with a back-signed canvas, shipped rolled up from Poland in excellent condition as a large abstract work rooted in action painting.
Description from the seller
Pollock Inspirations by Michał Lenartowicz is a tribute to the aesthetics of action painting and gestural abstraction, clearly engaging in a dialogue with the legacy of Jackson Pollock while maintaining a distinctly personal and contemporary character.
The painting fills the space almost entirely—a large, horizontal composition in which the energy of movement dominates over form. Layers of intense blues, cobalt, and ultramarine intertwine with a warm, muted yellow background, creating a dynamic chromatic tension. The colors appear to be in constant motion, as if they were not so much painted as recorded in the act of motion itself.
A defining feature of the work is the abundance of interwoven lines—black, white, and deep blue—applied through gesture, dripping, splashing, or rapid hand movement. Rather than organizing the space, these lines complicate it, constructing a rhythm of chaos that, upon closer inspection, reveals an unexpected cohesion. There is no single focal point; the viewer’s eye travels across the entire surface, continuously discovering new relationships between stains, splashes, and lines.
Despite the apparent disorder, the painting shows a strong sense of control over color balance and the density of gesture. Lenartowicz does not imitate Pollock’s style but treats it as a point of departure for his own exploration—his painting is more layered, with more pronounced color contrasts.
In its large scale, the work becomes immersive and architectural — not merely an artwork, but an element that actively shapes the surrounding space. It introduces dynamism, freshness, and intellectual tension, inviting prolonged contemplation.
“Pollock Inspirations” can be read as a record of energy, emotion, and movement, as well as a reflection on the boundary between spontaneity and conscious gesture—precisely where abstraction ceases to be accidental and becomes a language of expression.
