Yaseneva Sveta - Afternoon in Eden

As an artist, creating 'Afternoon in Eden' was an exploration of the liminal space between reality and myth. Based and working in Slovakia, I seek to capture moments where the mundane meets the primordial.
What drew me most to this composition was the intricate interplay of light and shadow on the girl’s legs. I was fascinated by the way the harsh midday sun filters through the canopy, casting rhythmic patterns on her skin. This specific detail became the visual anchor of the piece, contrasting the warmth of the human figure with the deep, velvety darkness of the panther lurking behind.
The predator is not a menace here; it is a guardian, a manifestation of the subject’s latent power. By placing her on a simple plastic chair amidst a vibrant, almost neon paradise, I wanted to show that our personal 'Eden' exists in the present moment.
