Foo dogs, ook wel Fu-honden of Chinese leeuwenhonden genoemd, zijn iconische beschermende figuren in de Chinese en bredere Aziatische cultuur.

Symboliek en betekenis:
Ze zijn geen honden maar gestileerde leeuwen die dienen als spirituele beschermers

Traditioneel geplaatst in paren bij ingangen van tempels, paleizen en belangrijke gebouwen om negatieve energie af te weren

Het mannelijke exemplaar (rechts) heeft zijn poot op een geborduurd balornament (symboliseert macht over de wereld)

Het vrouwelijke exemplaar (links) heeft een welp onder haar poot (symboliseert bescherming en voeding)
