Description from the seller
Beautiful set of foo dogs.
Foo dogs are traditional Chinese guardian statues that are not actually dogs but lions.
The name "foo dog" comes from the Chinese word "fu" (福), which means good fortune. In Chinese they are called "shi" (獅) or "shishi" (獅子), which means lion.
Symbolism & Function:
Protection: They are placed at the entrances of temples, palaces, and houses to ward off evil and keep positive energy inside.
Happiness & Prosperity: They symbolize happiness, wealth, and status.
Strength & Dignity: Representing strength, courage, and royal power
Characteristics of the Pair: Foo dogs always come in pairs:
Male (left): Has a ball or pearl under his right paw, symbolizes the world/power
Female (right): Has a cub beneath her left paw, symbolizing protection and care.
Placement:
Traditionally placed on both sides of an entrance
Looking out (as seen from the building): masculine on the left, feminine on the right
Important for creating harmony and balance
Weight: 1.5 kilograms.
This item can be shipped together with my other items in this auction so that you only have to pay the shipping costs once.
