Refined river view animated by sailing vessels, with a historic town in the background dominated by tall Gothic bell towers. The composition is balanced and atmospheric, built on a skillful luministic rendering of the sky and reflections on the water. Controlled yet vibrant brushwork, a cool palette tempered by pink and blue tones, typical of European lyrical realism between the early twentieth century and the late nineteenth-century tradition.

A work of cultivated and decorative taste, attributable to a painter active in northern Europe or the Central European area, sensitive to veduta painting and to river life. Contemporary gilded frame. In good condition.
