AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The Moto Guzzi GTV 500 Twin Port was born in 1934 and represents a turning point for the Mandello del Lario company; in fact, it put the old single-cylinder engines with opposed valves out to pasture.

Because of a bequest, it has not been started for about 4 years, but before that it participated in various exhibitions, fairs, and rides with the local motorcycle club.

This new single-cylinder engine was characterized by the new valve train, in fact it mounted overhead valves with a pushrod-and-rocker-arm arrangement, and by a new four-speed gearbox (called “V”). The displacement remained at 500 cc, as with the previous models.
The frame was a double-cradle tubular design, and as far as the suspension goes, the GTV initially mounted a classic and beautiful parallelogram front fork with a central coil spring, which was later replaced by a more modern telehydraulic unit, and a rear suspension with two elastic dampers, which was also supplanted by a “normal” swingarm with twin side shocks. Both brakes were drum brakes.
The engine delivered a power of 22 hp and was able to push the motorcycle to a top speed of about 120 km/h.
The production of the GTV ended in 1948, replaced by the Astore first and by the Falcone from 1950.
The Italian motorcycle with its original license plate and registration, with all documents in order, is presented in perfect condition, original paint with signs of aging. We are talking about a very rare Bitubo version.
The engine, along with the entire mechanical and running gear, is in excellent condition.

The startup procedure is peculiar, with a series of maneuvers that an enthusiast will recognize (there are explanatory videos on YouTube).

Willing to ship overseas with costs borne by the buyer.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
