Description from the seller
Gibson S1
I bought it second-hand in 1981 during a vacation in the USA.
Gibson produced the S1 between 1974 and 1980.
Serial Number 014639. This model was manufactured between 1975 and 1978.
Body and neck in maple, fingerboard in Indian rosewood.
Slim 'C' handle screwed to the body.
Low action (very fast).
22 Keys.
Recent luthiery recordings.
All parts and components are original, except the screws of the grille (recently replaced).
Two knobs for volume and tone controls.
A 4-position knob that combines the three single-coil pickups with unique tones, including a Humbucking sound (*)
Two-position selector (lead switch):
1 – a central rest that allows for various combinations.
some pickups
2 – that activates only the bridge pickup for riffs or solos
(*) Pickup combinations:
1) handle and center
2) central and bridge
3) all three together
4) neck and bridge out of phase
In excellent condition, considering its 47/50 years of age.
Original Schaller tuning machines that hold perfect tuning.
D’Addario string set 010–046.
It has a small dent on the tip of the spatula and inevitable signs of age and use.
With the neck it has and the low action, it's a pleasure to play. Moreover, thanks to its age, the pickups are slightly demagnetized (degaussed) and deliver soft, warm tones with superior sustain. It is very sensitive to the nuances of touch and has an exceptional dynamic response (my preference is for picks at least 2 mm thick, preferably wooden, for a fuller sound).
