You are bidding on a very fine and rare antique 4/4 violin, labeled Gio Bapt Grancino in Contrada Largha di Milano anno 1707. The violin is in good condition, with no visible cracks, original varnish of brown color over golden ground, new boxwood set up, Dominant strings and old bridge by famous italian maker Giuseppe Castagnino.
The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of softly flamed maple with matched sides. The scroll of narrow flamed maple. The whole length of the violin is 589 mm and the back 358 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 167 mm; middle bouts: 111 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm. Full size. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power. Shipping worldwide with DHL!
