antique unokubi-zukuri Japanese blade in a tantō koshirae.
The blade is traditionally tamahagane, hand-forged (iron ore) and unsigned (munei).
In the Edo period, 19th century.
The listing presents the original, ancient finish, strong and clearly visible.
Nakago gunome hamon (ubu).
The blade has a few minor scratches and a few oxidation spots.
The ha edge is sharp.
Nagasa length from the tip: 20.5 cm; total length in koshirae: 38 cm.
Thickness at the nakago: 6 mm. Motohaba.
Width of the blade at the nakago: 2.3 cm.
A pretty kogatana (small knife hidden in the saya).
The tsuka is richly decorated and perfectly lacquered. The saya completes this beautiful tanto.
