Andreas Cellarius (attributed) – Double hemisphere celestial chart – Hemisphaerium Stellatum – probable 19th century

Magnificent celestial map depicting the constellations of the northern and southern hemispheres, after the famous plates from Cellarius' astronomical atlas (Harmonia Macrocosmica).

The composition features two richly illustrated hemispheres with mythological figures: zodiac, celestial creatures, fantastic animals, and allegorical figures, surrounded by nimbuses and cherubs. A finely executed engraving with hand coloring.
