Today I am putting up for sale this Apple iMac G3 Blueberry (light blue color).
The computer, as well as the keyboard and mouse, have been completely disassembled and restored.
IMPORTANT: It is in good overall condition, as the photos attest. However, keep in mind that it has crossed a quarter of a century. It shows signs of wear or scratches, a little everywhere on its shell, which I try to highlight in the photos. It is nonetheless quite difficult to expose them because iMacs reflect a lot of light.
Technical side:
This computer is VINTAGE. It is therefore difficult to use for everyday tasks. It is above all a collectible item. However, it is fully functional and will let you relive the magic of early 2000s computing!
It houses a G3 processor running at 350MHz.
It has 192 MB of RAM, which is three times what was shipped at the time!
It is equipped with a CD drive, fully restored. Gone are the hassles of inserting or ejecting discs! It works as good as new!
The PRAM battery has been replaced to ensure the computer keeps the correct date and time, even after being unplugged.
The motherboard has been disassembled and checked, as has the power supply. All has been cleaned and carefully reassembled.
The operating system:
I have performed a fresh install of Mac OS 10.3. For this, I only use official Apple installation CDs.
The keyboard:
First, it is an AZERTY layout, model M2452. As you can see in the photos, it has been completely disassembled and restored. Indeed, cleaning the keys is not enough to guarantee a clean and fully functional keyboard, as it was in 1999! Of course, all keys have been tested and their operation validated :) The same goes for the little LED indicating uppercase, and the two USB ports located on either side of the keyboard.
The mouse:
In 1999, at Apple, they did not yet speak of an optical mouse for the iMac G3. The official mouse (model M4848) was a ball mouse. As you can imagine, after more than 25 years, the gears can be completely seized. But don’t worry, this mouse has been fully disassembled and cleaned to ensure as pleasant use as possible.
The speakers:
They were designed in partnership with Harman Kardon. The problem… more than 25 years after their creation, the speaker membrane is completely dry.
But, don’t panic!! I replaced the membranes while keeping the rest of the speakers. The result? Sound like new, both in the lows and the highs!
The computer is provided in its original box, which is increasingly rare and hard to find. This box has been stored for a while in a basement, which explains why the bottom was touched by moisture.
