Brass shipboard thermohygrograph dating to the second half of the 20th century, with a 11 cm diameter, 7 cm height and 7 cm depth, designed as a panel instrument by Observer from Germany.
Description from the seller
Authentic brass ship’s thermohygrometer from Germany, dating to the 1960s.
It is an analog nautical-design measuring instrument, built with a robust solid-brass housing with a nice patina and a mounting flange for fixing to bulkheads. The dial is protected by a crystal and shows scales for temperature and relative humidity.
The maker’s mark on its dial reads Observer. It uses two indicator hands: a red one for Celsius and Fahrenheit, and a blue one for humidity percentage. These instruments are distinguished by using mechanical mechanisms that do not require batteries, based on the expansion and contraction of metals—a technology in which the German industry specialized for marine environments.
Originally, this meteorological station served for environmental control in naval cabins or control rooms. Today, it is valued as an industrial piece in maritime-themed interior design, where it fulfills a dual role as a functional tool and as a collectible for technique enthusiasts.
