Description from the seller

Neo-Renaissance Oak Chair – ca. 1900 – Richly Carved Leaf Ornamentation – Solid Wood

Beautifully crafted neo-Renaissance chair from circa 1900, made of solid oak and richly adorned with hand-carved leaf- and scroll-ornamentation.

The chair is characterized by:
Fully hand-carved decorations in high relief.

Turned front legs and between rail
Mortise-and-tenon joints.
Original construction with singelbands under the seat.

Later but neat reupholstery in black artificial leather with decorative nails.

The wear on the cutting surfaces and edges is natural and fitting for the age. The chair stands firmly and is structurally in good condition.

This type of chair was produced around 1880–1910 in Northwest Europe in Renaissance Revival style and was intended for representative interiors.

A characterful piece of furniture with presence, suitable as a solitary piece, desk chair, or as part of a historic interior.

Condition:
Good antique condition with signs of use appropriate for age. Upholstery is renewed later.
