Today, high-quality Akita cedar has become increasingly rare due to limited natural resources and strict forest conservation policies. Large, beautifully grained pieces such as this are no longer easily obtainable.

This sculptural vase showcases the breathtaking natural grain of the wood, dramatically enhanced by traditional yakisugi-style surface treatment, which deepens the contrast and reveals the flowing annual rings like a topographic map of time itself. Each curve and contour feels organic — as if shaped by nature rather than by hand.
