Description from the seller
Anton Heyboer's etchings are often simple and direct, with rough, sketchy lines and strong contrasts. He works quickly and intuitively, with the graphic character of scratches and incisions still visible. As a result, his houses primarily take on an emotional, symbolic meaning rather than a realistic depiction.
Anton Heyboer (1924-2005)
Due to his unconventional lifestyle, Anton Heyboer belonged to the most eccentric Dutch artists of the past decades. His turbulent life manifested itself in five marriages. He also described himself as 'the Robin Hood of the art world,' referring to his high artistic production. Heyboer trained as a mechanical engineer. After World War II he began drawing, albeit still in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed his own philosophical framework on the basis of which his abstract artworks arose. Yet there are always figurative elements present in his paintings and etchings. Heyboer also clarified the themes of his work with texts, in which human relationships often play a role.
Dimensions of the work with frame: 43 x 60 cm
Dimensions of the work without frame: 33 x 41 cm
Framed work.
Viewing is of course possible. In addition we have our own in-house framery, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. Furthermore we make use of restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, of course we would be happy to hear from you.
