A set of five Japanese porcelain blue and white dishes.
Japan, Arita, Edo period, c. 1780-1820.

Dishes on foot rim with scalloped ribbed rim, the well slightly convex and decorated in underglaze blue with a scholar and servant in a garden setting with rocks, florals and houses in the background.
A Zen Buddhist text of twenty characters is arranged around the center decoration, this inscription is created using the Sumihajiki (wax resist) technique. Brown edged rim, spur marks to the base.

Provenance:
One of the dishes with a Christie’s sticker to the back.

Dimensions:
Diameter 20.5 cm, height 3.2 cm.

Condition:
All in perfect condition, no damages.

Worldwide registered and insured shipping.
