The etching by Cristoforo Dall'Acqua (1734–1787) titled L'Eau, from the XVIII century, measures 69 x 50 cm, signed on the plate, produced in Italy in aquaforte technique, and comes in good condition with a certificate of authenticity.

The image shows an 18th-century print titled "L'Acqua" (or L'Eau), which is part of a famous series devoted to the Four Elements.
Identification of the Work
The work is based on a painting by Louis de Boullogne le Jeune (1654–1733), painter to the king of France and director of the Académie Royale. The scene depicts the Triumph of Galatea and Neptune (often also identified as the Triumph of Neptune and Amphitrite).
Subject: Neptune, the god of the sea, and the nymph Galatea sit on a shell-shaped chariot among the waves, surrounded by a festive procession of Tritons, Nereids and flying putti.
Engraver: This specific Italian and French version is attributed to the Vicentine engraver Cristoforo dall'Acqua (1734–1787). A previous and famous engraving of the same subject was made in 1718 by Louis Desplaces.
Context: The work represents the element of Water. The other elements of the series (Earth, Air and Fire) were originally engraved by Desplaces and Charles Dupuis between 1718 and 1721
