Table lamp - Porcelain, Brass

This is a classic Japanese porcelain table- or floor lamp in Imari style with typical colorful landscape scenes. The hand-painted decoration shows mountains, temples, figures in kimonos and blossoms on white porcelain with blue, red and gold.

Probably Japanese Imari porcelain from the late 19th/early 20th century (Meiji period), made in Arita (Saga Prefecture). These lamps were often exported to Europe and America as decorative pieces; the gilded base and shade point to Western adaptation.
