Description from the seller
Set of 2 Japanese porcelain vases – blue-and-white – Meiji period (1868–1912)
Elegant set of two Japanese porcelain vases from the Meiji period, executed in a classic blue-and-white decor. These charming vases show the refinement and craftsmanship of Japanese porcelain from the late 19th to early 20th century.
Both vases have a slender, slightly baluster-shaped form with a subtly flared neck. They are hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue, with floral and landscape motifs. The brushwork is lively and expressive, with beautiful variations in color intensity, giving each piece a unique character.
Although offered as a pair, the decorations display small variations – typical of handmade work from this period.
