Original Royal Navy Patey-type liquid compass dating from 1980–1990, built by SIRS Navigation Ltd with a brass and glass case and bronze components in Admiralty Grey, measuring 28 × 24 × 27 cm and weighing 8.6 kg, in excellent condition and officially marked with NSN 6605-99-460-6389 and R/85/SIS/20.

This model was manufactured by the renowned SIRS Navigation (UK) and is finished in the characteristic color 'Admiralty Grey'. It is not only a technical tour de force, but also an impressive decorative object for the enthusiast of nautical, militaria or industrial design.
The Code: R/85/SIS/20
The Explanation: In British military coding, the 85 almost always denotes the year of manufacture or official inspection.
The Manufacturer: SIS stands for SIRS Navigation Ltd, the royal warrant supplier to the Royal Navy.
Special features:
Complete with Lighting: Unique to this specimen is the side compartment with the original copper petroleum burner. There is a small battery-powered light added so that a atmospheric glow shines on the compass rose.
The compass card is razor-sharp and rotates smoothly in the liquid. The glass globe is clear and the sturdy metal housing (binnacle) shows only minimal signs of wear, contributing to the authentic character.
