Distilled in 1950 at The Macallan Distillery in Speyside, this single malt Scotch whisky was bottled in 2006 by the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail as part of the Speymalt series. The whisky matured for approximately 55–56 years in a sherry cask before being bottled at 43% ABV in a 700 ml bottle. Long maturation in sherry wood contributed to a flavour profile associated with dried fruits such as figs, plums and sultanas, along with oak and light smoky notes. The Speymalt range highlights vintage Macallan whiskies matured and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail, reflecting a long partnership between the distillery and the Elgin-based bottler. Vintage Macallan bottlings from this period are released in limited quantities and are sought after by collectors of mature Speyside single malts.
