Description from the seller

IBM 1403 control tape punch

1959 (the 60s and 70s)

A peculiar and rare tool from the early days of ‘automation’. This IBM1403 accessory was used to punch the channel holes 1-12 in a paper tape. This tape was used as part of the IBM1403 chain printer for the proper control (carriage control) for printing data on so-called chain forms. This widely used punch works as it should; see the photo with the blue piece of paper.

The tape itself is not available and is not part of this offer. Images of the punch tape can be found via Google Images.
