Description from the seller
General Information
Artist: John Lennon
Title: Imagine
Label: Apple Records
Catalog number: SW 3379
Format: Vinyl, LP, Album
Year: 1971
Country: US
Edition: First Pressing
Genre: Rock / Pop
Description
Imagine is the second solo studio album by John Lennon, released in September 1971. It is widely considered his most iconic solo work, featuring a more polished and lush production compared to the raw, primal sound of his debut, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. Co-produced by John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Phil Spector, the album was recorded primarily at Lennon's home studio, Ascot Sound Studios, with additional sessions at the Record Plant in New York. The title track has since become a global anthem for peace. The album also features musical contributions from fellow Beatle George Harrison, as well as Klaus Voormann, Nicky Hopkins, and Alan White.
Condition
Vinyl: Presumed MINT (unplayed)
Cover: Factory-sealed, never opened
Notes for collectors
This is a definitive First US Edition, preserved in its original factory-sealed state. Unlike later reissues or club pressings, this original 1971 release features the SW 3379 catalog number prominently on the spine and back cover. As a first pressing, it is part of the initial run that included the iconic bonus items—a large fold-out poster and two postcards—which remain untouched inside the seal. The back cover correctly displays the original Yoko Ono quote from 1963 without the structural layout changes seen in later mid-70s and 80s pressings. A factory-sealed first edition of this caliber is a premier investment-grade piece for any serious Beatles or Lennon archive.
Matrix/Labels
Manufacturer: Capitol Records, Inc.
Label Details: Original Apple Records logo; back cover includes the text "imagine the clouds dripping... yoko '63".
