Description from the seller
Val Saint Lambert Crystal Vase — “Danse de Flore” Style, 40 cms height Val Saint Lambert of Seraing, Belgium, has produced some of the most elegant and prestigious works of crystal and glass for almost 200 years, holding the distinction of being the world’s only Belgian glassworks.
This magnificent vase is a superb example of Belgian crystal craftsmanship at its finest, combining masterful cutting techniques with delicate decorative gilding to create a piece of exceptional refinement and beauty.
The vase presents a classical urn silhouette, rising from a substantial square-cut plinth base etched with a radiating star motif. The faceted stem tapers gracefully upward into a broad, horizontally ribbed body before narrowing at the shoulder and flaring outward into an elegantly thick, polished rim. Every element of the form speaks to the precision and skill of VSL’s master craftsmen.
The focal point of the piece is a wide acid-frosted band encircling the fullest part of the body. Against this matt white ground, repeating gilded botanical sprays are applied with great refinement — each grouping depicting flowering plants and leafy branches rendered in rich, warm gold. Fine gold lines border the frosted panel above and below, adding a further note of classical elegance. This style of decoration is closely associated with Val St. Lambert’s celebrated “Danse de Flore” pattern and related gilded decorative series.
The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or wear to the gilding, making it a highly desirable collector’s item.
