One of the most coveted computers produced by Commodore. The Amiga 2000!
It breaks my heart to put it up for auction, but I need space for new acquisitions...
As the photos show, it is in good cosmetic condition; the case unfortunately has scratches and marks but the plastics are intact. The backup battery has been replaced. Together with the computer, the original Commodore mouse will be included (tested and working) and the Amiga Basic manual in German.
Regarding operation, I indicated in the listing that it is not functioning, but out of an abundance of caution and to avoid misunderstandings. After testing it, what I noted is as follows:
- The machine powers on and boots, it has Kickstart 2.0 (37.175) installed. The audio and video sections are okay.
- HDD controller card and HDDs are mounted, but the hard disk is not detected. I can’t say whether it’s a disk issue or a controller card issue; at first glance the hard disk seems to be the main suspect, but I never tried replacing it because I don’t have another SCSI drive available.
- Of the two floppy drives, the left one boots but doesn’t read well; the right one boots if you start the computer with the floppy inserted. Both should be checked anyway, they have surely suffered from the passage of time.
I vaguely remember having the Workbench floppies somewhere, but honestly I haven’t found them yet. If I manage to dig them up by the time I ship the computer, I’ll be happy to include them in the package, but I’m not sure I can guarantee it.
Regarding the package, shipping costs are quite high because the total weight is around 20 kg and the box is very bulky. Naturally everything will be packed with utmost care, in double cardboard and plenty of bubble wrap to ensure a damage-free delivery.
