Description from the seller

A very rare find on offer here. A Canadian misprint re-release of Davids’ Space Oddity-album. In mint condition! Discogs only offer one, for hundred dollars…

As all my albums, this one is in mint condition. always well-protected with inner and outer sleeves, stored safely. Well-guarded, loved, cherished and protected. The sleeves will be included.

What also makes this one special: it is no Dynaflex-record. Record sales exploded in the early seventies, causing a lack of vinyl. RCA countered this by using less vinyl per record. It resulted in thin albums. They were labeled Dynaflex, big words on the label. You can imagine what that did to the sound quality. Only a few were made as usual.

This was Bowies second album, recorded due to the success of the single. David departed from his music hall style and put in folk and rock. The lyrics reflected his life: relationships (Janine, Letter to Hemione), himself (Unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed, The wild-eyed boy) festivals (memory of as free festival). Producer was Tony Visconty who would grew into a lifelong companion. And among the player we find Rick Wakeman and Herbie Flowers.

Despite all that the album tanked, in the UK as well as the States where it was issued under another name. But it was re-released in 1972, after Ziggy conquered the world. RCA ‘updated’ it with a picture of David with his Ziggy-hair instead of the old curly hippie one.

The album on offer is that version. A Canadian pressing, meant for the American market. But it is a misprint. On the label Davids name is too big and it enters the so-called Big Circle centered with the spine hole. According to the all-knowing Discogs this one is very rare. Only four are on sale, of which only one is qualified as mint.

This one is too. Spotless, no blemishes whatsoever. Check the pictures (and my reviews). The album will be preciously packed and swiftly send.

RCA, LSP 4313, Canada. Sleeve mint, Vinyl mint.
