MAXON - Effect pedal - Japan - 2001 (No reserve price)

Brand: Maxon Model: CS-550 Stereo Chorus Type: Effect pedal Made in: Japan Serial number: 01XVC009 Colour: Blue Early non-TBS original circuit version – Char supervised model. This is a MAXON CS-550 Stereo Chorus made in Japan, early production version (non-TBS specification). Estimated production period of the pedal itself: late 2000 to early 2001. This CS-550 represents the original pre-TBS specification, produced before Maxon introduced the later True Bypass Switching versions. Developed under the supervision of renowned Japanese guitarist Char (Hisato Takenaka), the CS-550 was designed as a premium stereo chorus capable of delivering deep modulation, rich dimensionality, and an expansive stereo field. Unlike many standard chorus pedals, this model is particularly respected for its thick presence, musical clarity, and performance-oriented flexibility. As one of Maxon’s more distinctive chorus designs, the early non-TBS version is especially appealing to collectors and players seeking the original circuit concept before later specification changes. This unit has been carefully cleaned, inspected, and fully tested. The DEPTH potentiometer previously exhibited scratchiness. To preserve originality while ensuring proper operation, it was removed from the PCB, internally cleaned, and treated with contact cleaner. After servicing, no scratch noise was detected during testing. Operation is excellent. All electronic components remain original. No parts have been replaced. Condition: Very good cosmetic condition for its age, with minor scratches and normal signs of use consistent with careful ownership. Please refer to the photos. Includes: Original dedicated AC100V 10V adapter (Japan domestic specification) Important: The included adapter is designed for Japanese AC100V power only. International buyers may require an appropriate step-down transformer or compatible power solution depending on their local voltage standard. Based on internal component date codes, footswitch markings, and component chronology, dating confidence is high. The CS-550 was designed to: Add depth and spatial dimension to guitar and bass Produce a thick, wide stereo chorus sound Offer intuitive control through a practical 4-knob layout Operate via dedicated DC10V power for stable, professional performance Controls: SPEED DEPTH D-TIME M-LEVEL Switch: NORMAL / EFFECT Please note: This pedal does not support battery operation by design.
