Description from the seller

Beautiful ship's compass from the brand C. Plath. The ship in which it functioned was named M.S. Neptun.

Of course it has been used, but everything still works perfectly and there are no air bubbles visible in the compass, nor any leakage of the fluid. Unfortunately no original case.

A ship's compass from C. Plath (Hamburg) from the 1960s is unanimously regarded as an absolute top-class classic. They are known for their unrivaled precision, sturdy construction quality, and reliability under the harshest maritime conditions.

Construction quality: Made from high-quality materials such as heavy brass, copper, and scratch-resistant crystal glass. The mechanism is designed to resist extreme heat, humidity, and heavy vibrations.

Stability: The compasses from this period are equipped with an excellent gimbal suspension system, keeping the compass rose extremely stable and horizontal in rough seas.

Readability: Readable both day and night, often thanks to a cleverly designed (red) lighting system and a clear 5-degree scale on the dial.
