Two handmade vintage naval models from Palermo, Italy, dating to 1850–1900, consisting of a wooden sailing ship with antique finish and a smaller traditional fishing boat, both featuring white metal detailing and a combined width of 76 cm, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Fascinating pair of handmade vintage naval models from Palermo, Sicily, consisting of a historic wooden clipper and a small traditional fishing/working boat, both crafted with notable attention to detail and strong decorative value.
The main piece depicts an antique ship inspired by the great caravels and exploration ships of the 15th and 16th centuries. The sails, made of natural fabric, bear the characteristic Celtic cross, a symbol associated with chivalric orders and maritime expeditions of the Age of Discovery. The hull, made of wood with an antiqued finish, features artisanal details such as masts, shrouds, coffe and onboard equipment that give the ensemble an authentic historic charm.
Accompanying the clipper is a second, smaller vessel, identifiable as a traditional fishing boat or workboat from the 20th century. The contrast between the historic ship and the modern boat creates a particularly evocative composition, capable of telling the evolution of navigation through the centuries.
Both objects display a pleasant patina of time that highlights their vintage and collectible character. Ideal for naval modeling collectors, maritime history enthusiasts, nautical-style interiors, professional studios, libraries, or environments with a classic taste.
