Description from the seller
Parilla - Slughi 98cc - 1961
The 1961 Parilla Slughi 98 is a light motorcycle produced by the Milanese motorcycle manufacturer Parilla, a brand that in the 1950s and 60s distinguished itself for the production of small- to mid-displacement sporting motorcycles. The Slughi 98 was intended for everyday use, combining simple construction, reliability and low consumption, without sacrificing an elegant and sporty aesthetic.
The vehicle is equipped with an air-cooled, four-stroke single-cylinder 98 cm³ engine fed by a carburetor. The engine is paired with a four-speed manual gearbox with a chain final drive, offering smooth riding and easy maintenance, features particularly appreciated in the mobility of that era.
The frame is made of steel tubes, designed to guarantee sturdiness and lightness. The suspension consists of a telescopic fork at the front and a double-shock rear swingarm, while the braking system uses drum brakes on both wheels, in line with the technical solutions adopted in lightweight motorcycles of the early 1960s.
From an aesthetic point of view, the Parilla Slughi 98 stands out for its lean and balanced lines, with a sculpted fuel tank bearing the Parilla brand, steel fenders, spoked wheels, a long saddle and numerous chromed details that enhance the elegance of the machine. The overall look reflects the Italian stylistic taste of the era and the build quality typical of Parilla production.
Thanks to its reliability, ease of use and low operating costs, the Parilla Slughi 98 represented a solid solution for individual mobility in the early 1960s. Today the model holds significant historical and collectible interest, being appreciated by enthusiasts of vintage Italian motorcycles for its build quality, the historical value of the Parilla brand and the rarity of well-preserved examples.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
