Description from the seller

Description:
This elegant Japanese lacquered pedestal tray, or takatsuki (高月), has a graceful elevated form traditionally used for presenting sweets, fruit, or other offerings. The piece consists of a shallow circular dish supported by a slender central stem and a broad, rounded foot, creating a refined and well-balanced silhouette.
The entire stand is finished in a deep glossy black lacquer, providing a dramatic background for the delicately applied autumnal decoration. The upper tray is ornamented with several stylized maple leaves (momiji) rendered in warm gold, bronze, and subdued brown tones. Their asymmetrical placement gives the composition a natural sense of movement while preserving the restrained elegance characteristic of Japanese lacquerware.
The lower foot is decorated separately with a flowering motif, including a softly rendered blossom and accompanying foliage in gold and muted metallic tones. This subtle continuation of the decoration from the tray to the base gives the entire object a unified appearance without making the design overly elaborate.
The contrast between the highly polished black lacquer and the warm metallic motifs is particularly attractive, while the tall pedestal form lends the piece a formal, ceremonial quality. Such elevated stands were traditionally used in Japanese interiors and formal settings to present food, sweets, or decorative objects.
The piece is accompanied by its original wooden storage box, bearing old handwritten inscriptions and paper labels. One of the labels identifies the object as 高月 (takatsuki), providing useful provenance and context for the piece.
Overall, this is a refined example of Japanese decorative lacquerware, combining an elegant traditional form with restrained seasonal ornament.
