Imari - Lamp (2) - Gilt bronze

Very elegant pair of Imari porcelain lamps, mounted on bronze bases and necks.

The bodies are porcelain with polychrome blue cobalt, iron red and orange highlights in the Imari taste, featuring a rich stylized floral decor centered around flowering vases framed by reserves and geometric borders of oriental inspiration.

These were originally decorative vases mounted as oil lamps, then one of the two was electrified later.

The bronze mountings feature fine openwork around the burners with a decorative knurled knob bearing a heraldic motif.

One of the lamps, the one without the glass, has a crack in the lamp but it does not affect its stability. The other is in very good condition.

Dating from the late 19th century, Meiji period.
