Tea cup set (3) - Ceramic - Satsuma Koshida

An offered set of Japan Satsuma 薩摩焼 by Koshida, Crackle Porcelain, Meiji Period (see signature).

These are antique Japanese Satsuma plates from the Meiji period (1868–1912), produced by the Koshida factory. The plates and the cup are decorated with a vibrant hand-painted design. The intricate crackle glaze gives the plates a delicate, textured look and emphasizes their age and craftsmanship.
These pieces are an example of the craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail that characterizes Koshida Satsuma ceramics from the Meiji era, which were primarily produced for export. These pieces bear the Koshida mark and the Shimazu cross, symbolizing the patronage of the powerful Shimazu family, who historically ruled the Satsuma region. Koshida is a well-known and prolific Satsuma potter-maker that has been producing ceramics since the Meiji period (1868–1912).
