Black Tomesode - Japan - Heisei period (1989-present)

This is a Japanese-style black tomesode, a formal dress for Japanese women. The black base is complemented by a landscape pattern fully painted on the hem, conforming to the traditional formal kimono style.

The fabric is pure silk, and the hem incorporates multiple techniques including hand-painting and embroidery. The main motif is a crane, paired with pine, plum, chrysanthemum, flowing water, a folding fan, and traditional geometric patterns, creating a delicate and luxurious effect. The exquisite craftsmanship is typical of tomesode making. The lining is a smooth, light gray silk.
