Description from the seller

15-string contraguitar (Schrammel guitar) from the well-known brand Meinel & Herold, dating from 1900 to 1920. The guitar sounds wonderfully soft and full. It is easy to play. The additional nine bass strings are tuned in semitone steps and extend down to the low G. They resonate wonderfully. This results in a rich, full tone with many overtones, which particularly come to the fore in chords and bass lines.

The guitar has been comprehensively restored. The cracks were glued with hide glue and secured with small wedges. The tuners have been refurbished and work flawlessly again. Two teeth on the A-string gear are slightly worn. The finish has been renewed all around with shellac. Black shellac was used on the neck. The bridge was also refurbished. By replacing the saddle insert made of fret wire, the string height can be raised or lowered. The over-100-year-old guitar naturally shows some signs of wear, which do not affect the tone or stability.

The top is made of fine-grained German spruce, the sides and back of beautifully figured rosewood. The rosette features mother-of-pearl inlays.

The guitar will be well padded in a suitable case and shipped.
