Abraham Munting (1626-1683) era figlio di Henricus Munting, botanico olandese, e rinomato illustratore botanico. La sua opera più conosciuta, Naawkeurige Beschryving Der Aardgewassen, fu pubblicata nel 1696, postuma. Il suo lavoro fu molto apprezzato e amato per la sua originalità e per il fatto di andare oltre le tradizionali illustrazioni botaniche dell'epoca.
