Oswaldo Guayasamin is an expressionist painter of social realism. He is considered one of the great masters of Ecuadorian art, on par with (among others): Eduardo Kingman, Enrique Tábara, Felix Arauz, Juan Villafuerte and Anibal Villacis. His foundation-museum, in Quito, houses three thousand pieces, of which fifteen hundred are on permanent display.
