The origin of the Gypsy people is still shrouded in a thick fog, consisting only of deductions and hypotheses that fail to find any objective historical confirmation. Palmistry is a form of divination of a paranormal nature, that would describe the personality of an individual and predict his/her fate by studying the palm of his/her hand. Through this painting, Granata wanted to highlight the connection between the ancient art of palmistry and the gypsy world, that has been practising it for years. The recurring theme of the painting is thus a sense of mystery, the meaning of which is further emphasised by two elements: the fan covering the woman's mouth, almost as if she were whispering something secret, and her eyes, deep and enigmatic, but also extremely communicative. 

Granata was born in Salerno in 1989 and soon developed a great passion for the figurative arts from a young age. Graduated from art school in 2008, Granata attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, and began to take part in several group exhibitions even outside his city; his paintings are appreciated by gallery owners, art dealers and private collectors.
