This project is the result of independent research into rattan fibre, and in particular into its use in design.
The Fritsch-Durisotti studio has developed a language in which natural fibre is combined in a sensitive, durable and comfortable way with a light and airy structure. The curves are deliberately soft and fluid, highlighting the sensuality and warmth of the material. 
The construction process devised by the studio makes it possible to reduce labour time for production done in Europe. It eliminates the need for any binding in favour of a system of staples embedded between the stainless steel structure (thus durable and recyclable) and the rattan (a natural biodegradable fibre). 
Thus, the absence of glue to bind the natural fibre to the metal base makes the Spline project part of a green life cycle management system.
