1958 Mercedes Adenauer W 186 D
The Mercedes 300 D Adenauer is probably one of the most beautiful luxury vehicles of the 1950s. When the German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer chose the Mercedes as his official car, it was nicknamed the Adenauer Mercedes.
This exclusive Mercedes Adenauer was delivered to Venezuela and used as an embassy vehicle there. The vehicle was imported into Germany in 1992.
The Adenauer was completely dismantled and comprehensively restored in 2020/2021. The vehicle was thereby professionally converted into a convertible at a classic car workshop. During this work, parts were replaced with new parts, and old parts were restored. New paintwork, soft top, seats, interior trim and leather. The six-cylinder engine and the gearbox have been overhauled; according to Mercedes, the engine is original. The car is in good technical and visual condition.
In December, the convertible was presented to an assessor and was awarded a grade of 2 plus. It was rated as follows in the accompanying text: 'A good vehicle, absolutely free of defects and in original preserved or meticulously restored condition; no missing parts and only very slight signs of wear'.
The Mercedes is registered and has its TÜV (German MOT equivalent).
It has the following imperfections:
- two small holes in the dashboard without usage
- side trim panels, driver's side armrest in original leather
- new side window cranks difficult to operate
The vehicle can be viewed in Potsdam. Viewing the vehicle prior to bidding is recommended. Please contact Catawiki to arrange an appointment.
